WOW Air has ceased all operations as of March, 28th 2019. This means that all WOW Air flights have been canceled. What does this mean for you? If you have a flight booked with WOW Air then you are out that flight. If you booked the flight with a credit card then you will want to contact your credit card company to request a refund. Wow air is advising all of its passengers to check for flights with other airlines. Stranded passengers may be able to get reduced fair tickets from other airlines known as “rescue fairs”. According to WOW Air “Passengers may also be entitled to compensation from WOW AIR, including in accordance with European regulation on Air Passenger Rights. In case of a bankruptcy, claims should be filed to the administrator / liquidator.”

WOW Air was a low cost, budget airline that operated transatlantic travel between Europe and North America via Iceland. WOW Air was launched in 2012 with a fleet of Airbus A320s. They’ve recently had some trouble reducing their number of aircraft, laying off employees and failing to merge with Icelandair. WOW Air had been operating flights to over 20 destinations across Europe, Canada and The United States of America.

I’m sad to see WOW Air cancel all operations and disappear as a carrier. While they never flew from my home city, I had several friends that were able to get affordable flights to Europe with WOW Air. On a whole I love budget airlines as it opens the option of travel to many people that would never have dreamed to be able to fly around the world.
