Since Mid November there’s been lots of talk and images from Paris and the rest of France about the large scale Protests. These protests have been regarding a fuel tax. The protests have been happening mainly on Saturdays. These protests have been mostly occurring on the Champs-Élysées and the Arc de Triomphe.

What advise has the US Government said on the matter? Not a whole lot. The Department of State hasn’t changed the Travel Warning. It’s still at 2/4 as it has been since January 10th 2018. Travelers are advised to enroll in the State Departments Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP).

There are some issues travelers will run into. Some tourist spots have closed during the protests and some metro stations have closed temporarily. When traveling in Paris right now you should exercise caution and try to not stand out. You’ll want to be cautious of your surroundings and try to avoid certain areas while the protests are going on. Check twitter and local media to see if protests are actively happening and if so where at. However despite the Paris Protests, it’s still a wonderful city to visit. I personally will be visiting soon.
