Final Fantasy 16 Producer Addresses Game's Lack Of Diverse Characters

Final Fantasy XVI’s setting is heavily inspired by medieval Europe, and as such won’t be “be as diverse as say modern-day Earth,” according to one of the game’s producers. That answer, and the game’s lack of diversity, hasn’t gone over well with some of the franchise’s fans, sparking more than a few heated conversations on social media.

In a new interview with IGN, Final Fantasy XVI producer Naoki Yoshida gave a long answer to a question some fans have been wondering since the game’s announcement trailer: Are there any people of color in the world of Final Fantasy XVI? The game’s trailers to date have depicted a bloody, dark fantasy tale filled with swords and sorcery, but so far have had a distinct lack of non-white characters.

EA Hires Former Call Of Duty Veteran As Its New Battlefield GM

Electronic Arts has hired the former general manager of Call of Duty and Destiny from Activision to become the GM of Battlefield going forward.

Byron Beede is now the SVP and GM of Battlefield, and in that role he’ll help guide the Battlefield team into the future. At Activision, he helped launch a handful of live service projects that became massively successful, including Call of Duty: Warzone and Call of Duty: Mobile.

According to IGN, Beede’s main focus at EA is what comes next after this year’s new Battlefield game and the new Battlefield mobile game in 2022. He is part of the team that will ship those games, but IGN said “his focus is on the future of Battlefield” after them.

GTA Series Didn't Really Begin As Dinosaur Video Game, Original Dev Says

Update: GTA prototype creator Mike Dailly has denied that the game’s tech demo was ever dinosaur-themed. Speaking to PC Gamer, Dailly said it had used “code framework” from an earlier project that was “based on Cavemen and Dinosaurs,” which could account for the confusion.
